A first look at what we’re cooking up!
Grab a seat…
What we’re up to
Our bed & breakfast guests have enjoyed our “Wake & Bake” breakfasts for years - a daily, fully prepared, homemade breakfast to enjoy at their leisure. We are now taking that concept and expanding it further into “Take & Bake” dinner entrees. The more exciting news, is that we are now expanding our outreach and additionally serving our local community. We are currently in the process of building a fully licensed commercial kitchen on our property in order to offer fully prepared, refrigerated, family style entrees large enough to serve 2-4 people, with reheat instructions provided. Customers will have the option to reheat their meals throughout the week at times that work best with their own schedules.
and Why
Caring for others is, and always has been, the basis of what we do. We create environments that allow anyone who visits the ability to “take a load off”. We have noticed a growing need for affordable, readily available, and well-crafted meals in our community. Not everyone can eat out at restaurants, cook at home, or just live on takeout - whether that be constraints due to finances, physical ailments, time, etc. Even road conditions in the winter can lessen the trips one takes into town. We want to be the reason that full-time working parents have a home cooked meal for their families, or why a person who never learned how to cook and is now the caretaker of someone who can’t, isn’t living on TV dinners alone. There are so many types of people with so many different reasons why it is difficult to put a nutritious, warm meal on the table. We’ve been helping our guests take a load off for nearly 10 years, and now we would like to grow and extend that service to our community.
our passion project
Our efforts in all that we do, have always had the underlying purpose of making everyone feel seen, cared for, and like they have a seat at our table. With that mindset, there will be a section on our website called “the extra plate program”. This is where people can submit nominations for a well deserving person/family to receive one of our meals, at no cost to them. Nominees can range from a struggling single parent, someone going through an illness or recovery, someone experiencing a move, to someone who spends their time helping others and never asks for anything in return. If you think someone is deserving, it’s the only qualification needed.
Submissions will need to include the name and contact information for both the nominee and nominator, as well as the reason for the nomination. Once a week, we will pick one nominee to receive a free meal. We will hold on to all of the nominations and pick from the collective each week, so if a name did not get picked one week, it still has the chance to win in the following weeks.
At the heart of it all, we cook for others because sharing a meal is our way of showing love, care, and the simple joy of making someone’s day a little bit brighter.
At our table…
No Tipping - Just Sharing
Supper club at Little Red Homestead is owner-run, and we’ve chosen not to accept tips. Our hope is that this makes our meals even more accessible for our customers. If you feel moved to give a little extra, we invite you to put that generosity toward something more meaningful. Purchase an extra meal, or soup, for someone in your life who could use a pick-me-up.
It’s a small way to extend the table beyond your seat and be part of what we’re building through our extra plate program.
allergens matter here
Dietary restrictions are something we navigate in our own lives, and it has deeply shaped how we approach food and hospitality. We believe in food inclusivity, and that everyone deserves delicious food. We know how important it is to feel safe, be taken seriously, and genuinely considered when you sit down to eat.
While we are not a certified allergen-free kitchen, we use dedicated stations, tools, preparation/storage practices, and procedures to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
Your needs should never be thought of as an afterthought, or an inconvenience. They are a part of how we cook, and we are always happy to talk through them with you. This isn’t a trend or a marketing angle, it’s simply how we believe food should be prepared and shared.
quality from the start
Quality is the starting point for everything we make. Whenever possible, especially during the growing season, we use produce from our own gardens, just as we have for years at our B&B. We grow herbs indoors year-round, bake our breads from scratch, and produce our own maple syrup and honey. Many of the details that make a meal feel special, such as ferments, pickles, and preserves, are made right here in our kitchen.
That said, we’re not limited by what we grow. We thoughtfully source what we don’t produce ourselves, choosing ingredients with care and intention.
Nothing comes through our kitchen by accident, and we believe you can taste the difference.
